Yoga For Your Core

Yoga is a complete mind-body experience.
The way you breathe through each exercise is a way to relax your mind and help you focus on what you’re doing at that moment. And what you’re doing may seem easy and unlike any other vigorous exercise you’ve every tried, but it’s a great workout because you engage essential muscle groups.
Don’t underestimate the power of yoga on your body. While you move slowly from one pose to the other, you’re still keeping your muscles strong and because of this they’re working hard.
These two poses engage your core muscles and help to tone and shape them from the inside out.
Get your core muscles working hard with these two yoga poses
Pose #1. Yoga plank
As you move into the plank position, exhale through your nose and make sure your chest is open. Curl your toes in and straighten your legs and back to form one straight line. Place your forearms on the floor with your elbows directly under your shoulders.

Push your shoulders back and keep your neck long. Take deep breaths in and out through your nose while you hold this strong pose.
Hold for 30 seconds and work your way up to holding it for 2 minutes.
Pose #2. Star
From yoga plank, shift your weight into your right side while you turn your right foot so you can place it flat on your mat. Raise your right forearm off the mat and rest on your hand, palm flat on the mat.
Twist your hips open and open your shoulders to lift your left arm and leg to the ceiling so your body is in the shape of a star.

Engage the muscles in your stomach and keep your back straight. Resist the urge to lean forward and gaze up at your left hand.
Hold for 15 seconds and return to yoga plank. Do the same on the left side and finish in yoga plank.
These two yoga poses done frequently will tone and strengthen the muscles in your core so start doing them today.
