10 Holiday Skincare Tips

The holidays should be called”chillaxidays”’ because the sole purpose of being away from the daily stress of working, running a household and coping with life in general is to kick back and do only the things you really feel like doing. But let’s also get real; you can’t go totally overboard, a modicum of rational thinking must prevail. It would be preferable to drag that holiday body back to work next year without too much damage, so here are a few practical tips on surviving the festive season!
Sure, it doesn’t quite work like that, but I will try my best to get out of anything stressful whilst on holiday because it is also ‘me-time’ and I have earned it. Call me selfish, that is my intention and I am going do a few things I would normally refrain from doing under normal circumstances.
1.Tanning Beds
I know you would prefer not to expose that pale skin to an overdose of hot African sun, but please stay away from tanning beds to solve the problem. CANSA has proven through research that sunbeds and sunlamps can contribute to the development of skin cancer so it is not considered a healthy option for getting a ‘bit of colour’.
For a perfect sunless tan, it’s advisable to use any of the following self tan products, also available in our online shop: Tan Lab, Fake Bake,  Organic Self-Tan lotion
2.The Sun
Avoiding the sun in Africa is difficult because outdoor living and entertainment is part of our culture. However, the sun causes eighty percent of photo-ageing and damage to the skin is mainly done by the age of twenty!
In short, stay out of the sun between ten and four pm, use a high Sun Protection Factor (SPF) sunscreen every day and invest in some sunglasses, caps or hats. I wish some fashion guru would re-invent those flowing scarves and diaphanous robes that looked so romantic in the early 1920s as it would help protect us from the sun and make a great fashion statement at the same time. Oral anti oxidants such as Pycnogenol, Ovelle,PolypodiumLeucotomas( Heliocare) and Astaxanthin are powerful supplements to take during your sun filled holiday as they raise the levels of internal cell resistance to the sun .
Have a look at these great products for sun protection: Elixir SPF 50 Sunscreen, Australian Gold Accelerator Spray
3. Sunscreen
Your daily moisturiser should contain a broad spectrum sunscreen as well.
For a great looking tan, find the best way of faking it! You will be extremely grateful for doing so later in life. Don’t forget to take essential VitaminD3 if you are not getting your daily quota of sun rays.
4. The Power of Water
You can slap on lots of moisturiser from the outside, but true hydration comes from the inside and can only be achieved by drinking lots of filtered / mineral water. Your body needs water to deliver anti-ageing nutrients to your system and to flush out toxins that add to the ageing process. Wine or champagne do not count … Only good oldH2 0 which has been filtered
5. Anti-Ageing Supplements
Consult your Health Renewal doctor for supplements which are essential for optimal health
These supplements, when taken in the right quantity and quality, will help prevent ageing:
  • Omega-3 – maintains the structure and fluidity of cells and moisturises from within.
  • Ubiquinol / Co Q 10 – supports the body’s energy production and protects from free radicals
  • A complete multivitamin (like Phytomulti) that contains Lutein, Vitamin C and E will help restore collagen and hydration in the skin
  • Anti-oxidants such as Ovelle/Heliocare and Astaxanthin to improve internal protection against sun damage and burn.
  • Health Renewal’s Green Coffee Bean extract taken a half hour before meals will prevent absorption of sugar and fat and help keep ones insulin levels stable during the festive season.
6. Exfoliation and Moisturising
Exfoliate your face at least twice a week as moisturiser and serum absorption will be better and your skin will glow.
7. Eat Healthily
Of course you know what to do! Eat lots of fresh fruit, veggies and whole grains which are high in anti-oxidants and phytonutrients. Replace the coffee with some green tea as it is a natural anti-oxidant and can also help the body burn abdominal fat.
8. Wonderful Healing Sleep
Getting enough sleep is one of the healthiest things you can do for your body, skin and emotional well-being so get some additional shut-eye on holiday and develop healthy sleeping habits.
9. De-stressing
This is probably the most difficult state to achieve and don’t forget that unabated levels of stress can cause premature ageing. Now is the time to catch your breathe and take time off for yourself by:
  • Practice deep breathing by counting to 8 whilst breathing in, hold your breath for 8 seconds and breathe out for 10 seconds. Do this a few times every day to help improve oxygenation of your unused lower lung volumes.
  • Deep tissue massages or even a relaxing massage every other day will help remove the stressed up feeling you have accumulated over your busy year.
  • Yoga, meditation, stretching or any exercise such as 30 minute walk will take your mind off nagging problems and also metabolize the extra calories you may be consuming.
10. Recovery
If you have ignored all of the above and need to check in for some much needed help, after the holidays, book a consultation with your Skin Renewal or Health Renewal doctors to assess and recommend treatments to repair and prevent long-term damage!
In the meantime we hope you have a great time during the festive season and wish you all the best.

Priceless Lessons 2015 Has Taught Me

The following article is written by thought leader, life coach and public speaker Robin Sharma. Please let us know your thoughts at the end!
As we end another year, I wanted to offer up the lessons that were of the greatest value to me over 2015.
I, with a humble and wide open heart thank you for following and sharing and living and modeling my work over these past 12 months.
There’s zero doubt we’re building a global movement. And I’m counting on you to keep building it with me so we inspire all who walk on our path.
Together, we are doing our part to grow positivity, inspire productivity, push audacity and radiate humanity on a planet that needs these more than ever before…and trust me, I love you for it!
Ok. Here are the insights that served me best in 2015
#1. Ambition is only a dirty word if it’s an unclean ambition. Human beings are built to grow and progress. You are meant to shine.
#2. As you rise in authentic power, craft and impact, some will throw rocks at you. Take the High Road. And trust that the truth always wins.
#3. You can pursue shiny distractions. Or you can do epic work. You just don’t get to do both.
#4. A rare-air dream requires an explosively great team. The smartest way to grow a company is to develop your people.
2015
Pursue Mastery
#5. Generosity is the cure for scarcity. Be the most giving person in every room you’re in and life will reward you with uncommon blessings. Remember: doing good in expectation of some return is no gift–it’s an exchange.
#6. Why worry about a disrupted economy when you can build your own economy via the pursuit of mastery.
#7. Happy people make happy leaders–which create happy teams. So work on your happiness.
#8. A smile to a stranger is a gift of vast proportions.
#9. Creativity breeds amid solitude versus noise.
#10. If world-class was easy, everyone would be doing it.
#11. A monumental vision means, en route to the summit, you’re certain to experience monumental hurts. That’s just the price of bravery. Stay in the game. Longer than any naysayers suggest you should.
#12. Being on time is hip. Keeping your promises is cool. Having good manners is in.
#13. Optimism is a gorgeous contagion.
#14. Busy isn’t productivity. Fake work isn’t real work. Fight for focus. And execute on what counts.
#15. Love is the antidote to fear.

The Health Potentials of Hemp

Hemp is a naturally occurring product that has such a huge amount of potential (health and industrial) that it’s impossible to write them all in this small piece.
However we wanted to give you some information about this miracle fiber and what it can potentially do for you!

Hemp Manufacture
Hemps potential goes way beyond the products that benefit our health, with other uses such as paper, building materials, carpets, fabric and even plastic. A recent trend in 2015 saw small cafes and restaurants pop up, which make delicious food utilizing hemp seed oil and hemp seeds.
Health
Hemp
Many businesses are now promoting legislative change so that cultivation of industrial hemp in South Africa becomes a reality.
We at Life Retreat are certain that given the opportunity to grow this sustainable crop, the hemp industry could help provide solutions to many of the challenges that this country faces by way of sustainable housing, nutrition and job creation.
It is our belief that for positive changes to occur on a planetary scale it is necessary for environmental consciousness to be adopted by the masses. With this in mind we aim to move hemp out of the alternative culture and into the mainstream.
Hemp Seed Oil
Hemp Seed Oil is a greenish-yellow oil pressed from the seeds of a low-THC industrial hemp plant. Hemp Seed Oil is abundant in nutrients and, while different to Hemp Oil (THC oil); it does have many beneficial healing properties.
Hemp Seed Oil has not been linked with curing cancer, but it can help with other ailments and promote radiant health and well-being.
Hemp Seed Oil is rich In Omega 3 and 6, and Vitamin E, and contains an abundance of other nutrients including zinc, magnesium and phosphorous. It has been shown to help treat skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, and also help with arthritis. It can help support the functions of the cardiovascular, immune, reproductive, and nervous systems.
Health
Hemp CBD Oil
Omega 3 and 6 are important for general brain function and can help to improve concentration and elevate mood.
The high vitamin E content of Hemp Seed Oil makes it ideal for use in cosmetics products such as soap, shampoo, body lotion and moisturiser, as the vitamin E helps to nourish, strengthen and lock in moisture to the skin and hair.

2016 is looking to be the year when people have access to the most effective supplements that have ever been produced. In this article, we will take a look at three of them that have got people excited.
Quick Facts:
Taking a supplement is always beneficial
Paul Thomas, a scientific consultant with the National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplements says almost everyone can benefit from taking a supplement. Especially one with vitamin C or calcium. This is because most people don’t get as much of these nutrients through their diets.
  1. Calcium Glycinate – Calcium Glycinate, Vitamin D and Boron can be found in Solal’s superb supplement. Coming in a 60 tablet box, you are guaranteed to see results within one month.
    Supplements
    Solal Calcium
A daily multivitamin is a good and perfectly healthy product to invest in. It’ll ensure your nutrient intake is optimal, which will provide your body with tons of benefits.
2. VitaForce Mensvite Adult – Containing essential vitamins that support male health, as well as the unique        Carovite Complex that provides antioxidant protection. This multivitamin can be used alongside a new year’s exercise regime.
Supplements
Vitaforce
Paul Thomas also championed any supplement that contains Vitamin C.
3. Solal Double Vitamin C – The first water and fat soluble combination double Vitamin C available in South Africa. The combination ensures antioxidant protection of the water and fat soluble areas of the body.
Supplements
Double Vitamin C
So there you have it: Three of the top health supplements for 2016. You don’t need to make life complicated for yourself by choosing every single supplement in the store.

How To: Keep Healthy With A Busy Lifestyle

The lifestyle of a working man or woman is often exhausting…
Between running to meetings all over the city and making time for family time and social activities, finding the time to eat healthy meals or glug down the recommended eight glasses a day of H20 seems unachievable.
But not to worry – We’ve got you (and your health) covered!
By following these five health tips, you can be sure that you’ll be optimising your health while boosting your productivity, staving off headaches and avoiding unhealthy snacking.
#1: Prep and plan your snacks
Hunger can zap your productivity, but healthy snacks will stifle the tummy rumbles so you can get on with your busy day. Take a bit of extra time in the morning to prep and pack snacks for the day ahead.
By doing this, you’ll avoid the pull of the office vending machine and its unhealthy offerings when you need a quick nibble. Healthy snacks will also help improve your energy and concentration levels.
Busy
Magnesium Bath
#2: Take magnesium baths
Too much screen time without a break is the norm for many of us. If your job leads to countless headaches, you can help stave them off by upping your magnesium levels.
Epsom salts are a brilliant source of this mineral – and the best way to take in their goodness? By adding the salts to your bathwater!
#3: Slash the carbs and sugar
It’s tempting to grab a sweet snack when you’re in need of a quick energy boost, but trust me – it’ll only leave you feeling sluggish later in the day. Plus, sugar is very addictive, and most of your meals probably contain hidden sugars that are tempting you to overeat.
#4: Drink apple cider vinegar
Yup, you read that right. Women everywhere are obsessing over apple cider vinegar at the moment. And the reason for it is quite simple: It’s effective for pretty much anything!
And I mean anything – warding off signs of ageing, keeping your hair hydrated and healthy, curbing digestion problems, managing your blood sugar, shedding kilos… You name it, it does it.
#5: Always have coconut oil on hand!
Don’t take this lightly. If you haven’t already got a tub somewhere in your home, you need coconut oil in your life. Right now! This new “miracle” oil is handy for almost every aspect of your health.
You can add coconut oil to just about everything – your beauty routine, your eating plan, your first aid kit… The possibilities are endless!
Busy
Coconut Oil

The Cancer Cure Doctors Can't Give You

Re-write your health for the rest of your life with two tablespoons of Hemp Seed Oil a day
When you start adding Hemp Seed Oil to your daily diet, you start to see dramatic results.
Your joints no longer ache. Your blood sugar and blood pressure levels stabilize. Your headaches disappear, even your immune system strengthens and your cancer cells turn on themselves.
Beating Cancer, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Arthritis and Alzheimer’s!
Hemp seed oil truly is nature’s own super oil. And this all in just two tablespoons of the oil a day.
Natural medicine specialists, myself included, have been saying for years that treating and preventing disease can’t be a one size fits all approach. That every treatment and intervention has to be tailored to an individual.
And thanks to studies like the one I’m going to tell you about today, it seems like we’re finally on the right path to get other, more traditional health care practitioners to agree.
It’s a fact: The bacterial colonies in your intestines dictate good health or disease
  • An experimental study proves your gut is directly linked to your immune system
  • Fixing your gut and preventing disease must take a personalized approach
  • John Hopkins Medical Center says it causes cancer cell suicide!
  • The University of Manitoba in Canada reports it puts the brakes on the blood sugar roller coaster you’re on.
  • The University of Nagoya in Japan declares it slashes your heart attack risk by 66%.
  • Studies published by international journal, Advanced Nutrition Publications, reveal it provides relief from joint pain, muscle pain and rheumatoid arthritis.
  • While memory expert, Dr Fiona McPherson confirms it regenerates the part of the brain that stores memories.
Hemp seed oil contains all 21 of the amino acids your body needs to stay in tip-top shape and is the only perfectly balanced combination of omega-3 to omega-6 essential fatty acids (EFAs) on the planet!

Why Does Mainstream Medicine Still Refuse To Promote Hemp Seed Oil?
Why Hasn’t Your Doctor Told You To Try It?

Quite simply, because amino acids and EFAs are the building blocks to life. They keep you alive by rebuilding and producing new cells in your body.
Doctors are afraid to prescribe this medical herb simply because the FDA hasn’t approved it yet.
And even though in December the FDA finally gave a few universities permission to run trials on its effects on seizures, cancer and arthritis, it’ll be years before it gives hemp oil the nod. Let alone, make it okay for your doctor to prescribe it to you.
…Years where you’ll continue to suffer from cancer, diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, Alzheimer’s and more.

People Using Hemp Oil Are Blowing The Skeptics Away
“From Death’s Door To CANCER-FREE In Just Eight Months – It’s All Thanks To Hemp Oil

Hemp seed Oil brain turmour
Take oncologist, Dr William Courtney who had the daunting task of treating an eight month old baby suffering from a malignant, inoperable brain tumour.
Her parents declined chemotherapy. Yet, her dad pushed Dr Courtney to help improve his child’s quality of life with hemp seed oil.
It did much more than that!
After only two months, an MRI scan revealed a dramatic improvement in the tumour size. Miraculously, six months later, the scans were completely clean. That’s right. No cancer remained!
Impossible?
Here’s a picture of her actual scans. They show how hemp oil helped her go from hopeless case to cancer-free in just eight months.
